New Toys!
Mommy was so excited for this 3 month milestone - now finally she can start using the 3+ month toys that have been sitting in the basement!
3 Months Old
In some ways things are pretty much the same as at 2 months but in other ways they are completely different. She's had no big personality changes, she's still as loving and happy as ever. She's mastered the smile and we have come to count on it every time she wakes up from bed or nap time. Her legs and arms are moving like crazy and she's become more vocal over the past couple weeks.
She's started to try to sit up by herself - we will catch her in her swing or bouncy seat doing a sort of stomach crunch. Pulling her head up / crunching her stomach... it's so cute and we're so proud of her achievement.
Although I've said it before, she has found her thumb and began really sucking on it for long periods of time. (I personally think it's because it's finally big enough for her to really get a hold of and go to town on) I have yet to really notice her soothe herself with it enough to fall asleep but I'm sure she'll get there. As of now she sucks and sucks and sucks and eventually gets frustrated enough to tear it out of her mouth and whine... settling for the paci
This past month Pat and I started letting her fall asleep in her crib alone at night. We'll rock / hold her until she's just about ready to pass out and then we'll move her upstairs to her crib. When we put her down she may or may not awaken more.. but within a couple minutes of us leaving the room she is asleep. IF she fusses (rarely) it usually only lasts 3-5 minutes. In fact last night she was fighting sleep so much that I suggested we just put her in her crib and let her "cry it out" - we didn't even have time to let her cry.. by the time she touched the crib we heard one long winded whine out of her and she was out. Put a fork in her she's done!
Last week we moved her from 4oz bottles every 3 hours to 5oz bottles every 3-4 hours and her sleeping habits have just recently changed. It's still very early but as of the past couple days she's been going to bed around 9:30 and not waking until 6 or 7am. Let's hope it stays that way.
She still isn't too fond of tummy time and although she is fantastic with holding her head up when she's in an upright position - when laying on her tummy she still pretty much face plants. Part of me thinks though that if she had to she would pick her head up (because she's done it before for seconds at a time) but she really doesn't like to and would rather bury her head and cry. If she's up for it in the afternoon when we get home, we change and then she lies on my stomach with her head at my chest and we talk - well I talk and she moans and squirms ... hopefully someday

Giving Thanks
1. Today we saw a new doctor for Teagan. While our first doctor was not a bad doctor, he just was not as helpful or informative as we were looking for in our daughter's care. We did not get a lot of feedback. Kelly was not given any instructions on things to look for when Teagan got her first shots. They also did not freely offer updates on where Teagan was on the charts. (As of today, she is in the 95th percentile for length, weight and head size with measurements of 25.5", 13.10 pounds, and 16.5"). Overall, we will still use him as our doctor, but not for Teagan. So, I am thankful for having the freedom of choice.
2. While at the doctor's office, a little boy came in sick. He didn't look like there was a whole lot wrong, maybe just a cold. Turns out he had a fever, and this little boy, according to his grandma, has spikes in his temperature when ever he has a fever. It would b my guess that this is not the first time, but this poor little boy had a seizure in the waiting room. He was rushed into the back and we later heard the doctors saying that the little one would be just fine. Regardless, I am thankful that Teagan, Kelly and I are all relatively healthy.
3. I am thankful that I have a wonderful wife. Every now and then we have our moments where things are not smooth, not always nice, somewhat combative. While we may have our disagreements, I give thanks that we can resolve them with some deep breaths and some laughter. Thank you for being wonderful Kelly.

Pat & Teagan's morning
(imagine each stretch as she holds her breath, arches her back, balls her fists above her head and her face turns bright red - turning into a slight sigh as her stretch ends)
She made me laugh a lot.
We changed, ate and did a bit of face time until she was distracted by the sun light on my chest. Then we did a baby Einstein while I packed up my lunch and got her ready to go.
SMILE!

A Long Holiday Weekend
She may look cute as can be here, but the look on her face once she got in the pool told a different story. To put it easy, she was not pleased. Teagan's first experience in a pool was over... epic fail.
Sunday was a relaxing day where we kicked back, relaxed, stayed out of the humid air, and waited for fireworks. We went over to the neighbor's house around 6:00 ish and hung out until it was time to go. The fireworks were held at the local mall. We parked in the lot of a closed car dealership. The show was not too impressive, but it was nice. Teagan sat in Kelly's lap and seemingly watched the fireworks, well, the big bright ones at least. Regardless, she was calm and just enjoyed sitting and watching things around her.
Monday brought yet another adventure that included a pool. The family headed out to visit Aunt Karen and Uncle Alex in Lombard. We drove out there after stopping at Meijer to pick up a few things. Once we got there, we made lunch and packed a few beverages in a cooler then took the 3 minute walk to the pool area. Once again, we popped Teagan into her little swimsuit. We then headed into the pool. I was a bit apprehensive as I felt the temperature of the pool was no different from the last pool we were in. Ignoring that logic, we took the little girl and submerged her up to her waist. Kelly was holding her and bounced in and out of the water. Teagan was a bit startled, but then seemed soothed by the overwhelmingly large bath tub she now found herself in. She gave us a good 5-10 minutes of being in the pool before she grew grumpy. Before exiting the pool, we did get a good family picture... or so I am told. I have not seen it as it is on Aunt Karen's camera. Once we finished in the pool, it was time to head back and cook dinner. It was a wonderful steak, delicious potatoes and veggies. Karen and Alex did a great job on the meal. One problem... too much food!!! (Good problem to have as it provided me another meal while Kelly was at work.) The pool party was soooooo fun and stimulating, Teagan ended up falling asleep mid diaper change on the floor. We covered her with a light blanket and let her sleep. After dinner we watched a movie then headed home.
Tuesday, well, Kelly will have to tell you about Tuesday some time. I was not there. I was at home cutting the lawn.
I hope that your holiday was as enjoyable as ours was. I think I am able to speak for Kelly in saying that we are really enjoying this parenting thing.
