My lil Pumpkin is 5 months old!

Just a couple days after my post on her status at four months Teagan proved to mommy and daddy that she could very well roll from her stomach to her back and she's been unstoppable since! When did we hit the point where this little person who just stared and stayed in one place turned into this little being that moved with purpose? I can't quite pin point that moment in time. It's remarkable to me that months back it seemed to take forever for her to hit milestones and now it seems that she is very quickly learning new things. I can see the determination in her eyes when she wants something. I can see her thinking process... if i just move over here..can I will my hand to move to the rattle... Oh, oh moms holding my paci let's take it from her. It's neat to sit and watch.

This past month Teagan has enjoyed many things. We retired the bouncy seats to the basement and dug out the excersaucer, jumper & highchair. We've tried solids. She's been quite good at eating rice cereal twice a day for the past month and just two days ago we tried our first veggie. Green Peas! How did it go you ask? We'll the first night was a taste test... she pretty much spit it out every time we offered it to her. Last night went better and she at least ate some of it. Tonight I expect even better results than the previous nights (I'll keep you posted).

She's pulling hair and giggling with delight. Her legs and arms are going at 100 miles per minute.. like she's swimming or as Pat saying - playing air guitar. Her smiles and coo's are contagious.

As stated above, she does now roll both directions (from stomach to back and back to stomach). She prefers her stomach and only seldom will log roll around the floor. If she is on her back she does not want to be lying down... she'd rather sit. She can brace herself with her hands forward and balance for a minute or two if she's not supported but we prefer to keep the Boppy or our legs around her. Sitting has opened up a whole new world which I can tell she enjoys. If I had to guess I'd give her a very strong chance at being able to sit by herself mid October (she's been working on those stomach muscles doing V-sits since early on) and crawling.. well I hope by Thanksgiving she'll be crawling.

What The ?????

Time flies when you are having fun, and the Husk home sure is having it's fair share of fun. We have been reduced to weekly updates for the blog because life is so busy. It only seems fair that we take some time each week to share a few smiles with everyone. After all, we have been blessed with so many of them, it only seems right to pass some along.

Where do we begin? If we go chronologically, I would need to try and remember which came first, and I do not know if I can do that. So I think we will just try to touch on everything randomly.

When we last left off, Teagan had just started enjoying her new toys, in particular, her Jumperoo. We have also introduced her to her Excersaucer. Both new toys have proved to be quite intriguing to Teagan. She is loving her time in them. Our daycare provider has also been putting her in a walker so that she can join the crowd during the day. I think Teagan will enjoy her Excersaucer much more once Mommy and Daddy go get some AAA batteries for all the gadgets.

People have told us that time will go by so fast, but I don't think we were quite prepared for how fast. It has been almost 5 months already. It seems we just told everyone that Teagan was able to follow objects from side to side. Then we got our first real smile. We just recently were able to tell people that Teagan was flipping over, now she has no problem rolling around. As if that was not enough, this past weekend while we were at the St. Louis Zoo, she sat up in her stroller. Due to this development, we have just started using her high chair for feedings. WOW!!! It hasn't even been 5 months!!! Next thing you know, she will be crawling.

Through all of this development, Teagan has remained a very, very happy baby. As with any child, she lets her opinion be known when she does not like something, but most of the time this kiddo is just full of smiles. Every morning she wakes up smiling, just as soon as she is done stretching that is. I am also amazed that every time I come home, it is to a beautiful smile followed by an almost shy reaction when she buries her face back into mom's chest. We we lay down to play, when we clap, when we simply say hello, she smiles. Now that we get laughs from her, there is way too much fun.

Teagan has also begun to check off the States she has been to. So far, she has been to Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio and Missouri. She had a lot of fun spending time with Aunt Jen, Uncle Tim and cousin Molly in Ohio. She also enjoyed all the wonderful sights in St. Louis when she got to hang out with Aunt Kristina.

Life has kept us busy as we visit friends and family. Teagan keeps us busy after work, but when she goes to bed between 9:00 & 10:00, she sleeps until 6:00 - 7:00 in the morning. We still occasionally have to put a paci back in her mouth, but we are definitely getting away from an early morning feeding. Teagan is getting so big. She is growing so quickly. This brings about a few sad things too. We are soon to retire the lovely bouncy seats. She continues to try and sit up in them and she is just getting too long. We have put the Pack & Play away. We used it for the changing table attachment, an attachment that is not long enough to contain Teagan anymore. It is only a matter of time until her swing will no longer support her. That, will be a sad day.

What is next you may ask? We ask the same thing, but unless something amazing happens in the next few days the answer is going to be... fruits and veggies!

Now for a couple of smiles...

Graduating

Hi there folks... Long time no see....

The Husk Family would like to proudly announce that Teagan Marie has graduated in several categories.

1. We have started solids and are really liking them. It is fun to watch her smile with a mouth full of food.

2. We have mastered this rolling over thing. Teagan can now go to the left or to the right and she can now roll off of her stomach and return to her back.

3. We believe our little girl is teething. We are nowhere near cutting teeth, but there appears to be some pain and there is just SOOOOO MUCH DROOOOOOLLLLLLLL!

4. We are just about over-sized for the bouncy seat and have now introduced a Jumperoo. Teagan is loving it.

We promise there will be pictures, videos and comments to come.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Things just got a bit more interesting....

Teagan has been rolling from her back to her stomach since about 3 1/2 months. We've often wondered how long it would take to reverse order - from stomach to back. Looks like she's finally figured it out. She's been getting really good at it and even got half way under the couch today. Things will never be the same.....
